Continuation of positioning; and alignment of the anatomical structure and equipment, evaluation of images for proper demonstration of anatomy and related pathology. The study of standard radiographic procedures of the vertebral column, thorax, skull and trauma radiographic procedures will be discussed and demonstrated. Completion of RADR curriculum with 75% or higher in all RADR courses is required. Two lecture hours; four lab hours per week Total Contact hours: 96. Lab fee required.
Acceptance into the Radiologic Technology Program
Completion of RADR 2301 with 75% or higher.

Students will need laptop with camera and internet connection capabilities for classroom/lab activities and testing.
1. Achievement of all lab Check-off and Simulation competencies with an 80% or higher.
One re-test per failed competency will be allowed. A minimal of 80% must be obtained by student on re-test in order for progression into next procedures course.
2. Completion of all daily assignments, quizzes, and projects.
3. Completion of all major exams and lab practicals.
4. Complying with professional behavior requirements.
5. Compliance with the RADR Program Student Handbook.
6. Must obtain a minimal score of 75 on all course requirements, with the exception of Lab Simulation Competencies (see #1 of Course Requirements).
There is a minimum of 3 major exams.

Any student enrolled or planning to enroll in the Blinn College Radiologic Technology Program with reason to believe they are potentially ineligible for an occupational license due to a conviction or deferred adjudication for felony or misdemeanor offense may request a criminal history evaluation by the Texas Medical Board to determine eligibility.

Per the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT):
For students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Blinn College Radiologic Technology Program, who may have a criminal background, please be advised that the background could keep you from being certified and registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
ARRT emphasizes ethics requirements for certification and registration. Individuals with a previous charge or conviction of a misdemeanor or felony should contact the ARRT Ethics Requirements Department for a Pre-Certification Application at www.arrt.org or (651) 687-0048 concerning eligibility requirements.
Lab Reviews/Activities: All missed Lab reviews and/or activities may be made up within 3 days of the missed lab date with a 10 points grade deduction for each review/activity. It is the students' responsibility to contact instructor to make the necessary arrangements. A grade of zero will be recorded for any assignments completed post the 3 days late time frame.
Lab Check-Offs & Simulations: Any missed lab check-off and simulation with instructor excused absence may be made up within 10 days of missed lab date. It is the students' responsibility to contact instructor to make the necessary arrangements. A grade of zero will be recorded for an exam not completed within the 10 day time period.
Exams: Major exams may be made up within 10 days of the initial exam date with an instructor excused absence. It is the students' responsibility to contact instructor to make the necessary arrangements. A grade of zero will be recorded for an exam not completed within the 10 day time period.
Lab Upkeep/Cleanliness: Absolutely no food or drink in the designated x-ray rooms or control area. ALL students will be responsible for keeping the lab and all supplies tidy & clean on a weekly basis. Every student is expected to clean up after themselves and help maintain a clean and safe environment in all areas of labs used on campus. Failure to perform these duties will result in 5 points deduction from course Lab category for every student and each infraction.
Absolutely no exposures allowed, nor control panels & DR system turned on, without an instructor present. Absolutely no actual exposures of patients, students, other people or animals are allowed. Violation of these two policies will result in a written citation with a 5 point deduction from overall grade in course and/or possible review for dismissal from program. All laboratory equipment (phantoms, electronics, computer systems, patient care items, etc.) are to be treated with the utmost care. Any type of equipment or room malfunction or damage noted or observed by students must be reported to instructor. This is to insure that the proper protocols and steps to fix equipment are taken, which then assures the safety and security of all students and faculty utilizing the lab.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL THE DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY (DR) SYSTEM AND OPERATOR CONSOLE BE TURNED ON OR UTILIZED WITHOUT INSTRUCTOR PRESENCE IN THE LABORATORY IN ANY CLASS. Violation of this policy will result in a written citation and 5 point deduction from overall grade in course.
Technology: Please turn off or silence any watches, cell phones, etc. prior to entering class or lab. Cell phones must be kept in bags at all times, unless instructed otherwise by professor.
You are responsible for obtaining information from your classmates on material missed when you are not present in class or lab, as well as notifying the instructor of absence and scheduling a make-up date and time (refer to above Make-up policy).
All Radiology courses must be successfully completed with a minimum of 75% for advancement to the next semester.
Student Class & Laboratory Participation
Students must role-play as a professional radiographer and patient during class and/or lab times. Students are expected to have physical contact with other students and standardized patients while participating in radiographic/medical learning and grading activities.
COVID Absence Policy
Students MUST use Campus Clear to report COVID exposure, symptoms, positive test, etc.
Register with your Blinn email address and each day you will receive an email or push notification asking you to indicate whether you are symptom-free, experiencing symptoms, or have tested positive for COVID-19. Based on your response, the app either will invite you to join us on campus or ask you to stay home.
How often do you need to self-certify?
Blinn expects that all students and employees should self-certify every day, even on days that they do not plan to come to campus. You don't need to follow up with questions, you read that correctly.
If you suspect COVID exposure or need a related absence, the program REQUIRES that you submit the CampusClear email that you will receive after reporting, that establishes your quarantine period and return-to-campus date to instructor.
Per the Back-to-Blinn policy, if a student is required to quarantine per Campus Clear, the student will be provided a Zoom link to the lecture portion of the course, or a recorded session of the material covered. Students must inform the instructor immediately once they have been notified by Campus Clear that they cannot come on campus so that COVID accommodations can be granted. Instructor will make every effort to fulfill the student's request within 24 hours. If a student misses the laboratory portion of the course, the student will be expected to practice on their own after reviewing assigned readings, videos, etc. Zoom links will not be provided for the laboratory portion of the course.
