This is an online course where all exams and most quizzes must be completed in a proctored environment. Additionally, you are required to schedule 1 mandatory meeting via video/audio conferencing (zoom/phone) with me after first exam.

Please find a folder under the Content tab of eCampus titled Office hour. Please click on "Join Session" to attend the office hour.  I am available to meet on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 am-11:30 am during that session.

Though my "official" office hours are listed above, please feel free to call me anytime between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. If I don't pick up, just leave a message with your name, number, and a brief description of the issue and I will call you back as soon as I can.

Email and Phone Message Responses: I check my email several times a day during normal business hours, so expect less than a 24 hour response time during normal weekdays. I do check my email on weekend when I have time, but I do not guarantee a 24 hour turn around on weekend emails or phone calls.

Description

3 lecture hours and 3 lab hours per week; 96 total contact hours. Credit: 4 semester hours.

Study of the structure and function of human anatomy, including the neuroendocrine, integumentary, musculoskeletal, digestive, urinary, reproductive, respiratory, and circulatory systems. Content may be either integrated or specialized. Anatomy and Physiology II is the second course in a two semester sequence which examines the systems of the human body using an integrated approach.

Requisites

Prerequisites: Biology 2401 with a grade of "C" or better.

Course Requirements

Lecture Exams cover material presented in both lecture and lab, generally in a multiple choice (50-60) questions. If you anticipate missing a lecture exam please let me know as soon as possible. The makeup must be completed within two days. The lowest lecture exam grade will be replaced by the higher final exam grade. If your final exam grade is lower, it will not be used to replace. The lecture exams are online. The exams will be taken using the Honorlock proctor. Please note that you will not be allowed to go back to the questions in the exam. Once an exam is completed by the entire class you can review your attempt with me during a scheduled meeting or the office hour. This category is worth 40% of total grade.

Lab Exams cover material presented in lab, presented as slides, dissected specimens, models, test results, images, etc covered in lab exercises and assessments of the lab manual. You will take 4 lab practicals. All the lab exams are on line and are 50 multiple choice, fill-in-the blanks, and matching questions. The exams will be taken using the Honorlock proctor. Please note that you will not be allowed to go back to the questions in the exam. Once an exam is completed by the entire class you can review your attempt with me during a scheduled meeting or the office hour. This category amounts to 20% of your overall grade.

Final Exam is comprehensive, over the entire course content. This final is important as it constitutes 20% of your overall grade. The final exam is online. The final exam schedule is as specified on Blinn website.The exam will be taken using the Honorlock proctor. Please note that you will not be allowed to go back to the questions in the exam. Once an exam is completed by the entire class you can review your attempt with me during a scheduled meeting or the office hour.

Quizzes  category amounts to 5% of your total grade. You can makeup a missed assignment if you notify me prior to missing the assignment and can complete it within 2 days. 2 lowest scored quizzes will be dropped at the end of semester. The quizzes will be taken using the Honorlock proctor.

Digital lab book using TopHat platform, assignments in this category will amount to 5% of the total grade. They may also include matching and labeling assignments on eCampus and questions embedded in the online lab book. These assignments need to completed in a timely manner. You can makeup a missed assignment if you notify me prior to missing the assignment and can complete it within 2 days. 2 lowest scored assignments will be dropped at the end of semester.

Connect reading assignments and home-work assignments: This online component on connect platform is worth 5% of your total grade. Average of the grade from all the assignments will be added to the grade book. Two assignments of lowest grade will be dropped.

Connect lab assignments: This online component on connect platform is worth 5% of your total grade. Average of the grade from all the assignments will be added to the grade book. Two assignments of lowest grade will be dropped.

How to Succeed in this Course

Science courses may be challenging and difficult.  Most successful students spend two to four hours studying per week for each credit hour of the course.

Key Points

  • Have access to all the materials and technology required for this course (webcam, microphone, computer, reliable internet, etc).
  • Attend all classes. Each lecture builds on the previous lecture.  Stay ahead of the material.
  • Come to class prepared by reading the textbook and/or lab manual beforehand and taking notes before class to improve success.
  • If you have a question during lecture, go ahead and ask it. Chances are that at least three other students have this same question.
  • Know your deadlines and course policies by looking at the syllabus, instructor announcements, and eCampus dates, schedules, and news items.
  • Work through lots of practice problems in addition to your homework.
  • Form study groups with your peers.

I will carefully review any flagged behaviors that you may have during exams. If I determine that the flagged behaviors do indeed indicate cheating, you will receive a zero on the exam.
